The History of the Renault

The Renault is a vehicle brand name that is a creation of the Renault S.A. Company. Renault S.A., Societe Renault Freres, as it was known then, was started by a man known as Louis Renault in 1899. Louis started the Renault S.A. Company together with brothers Fernand and Marcel and friends Julian Wyer and Thomas Evert. Although the Renault Corporation was established in the year 1899, the vehicles had already been produced from the late 1897. Renault Voiturette 1CV was the first car from Renault, purchased by a friend to the father of Louis after he was given a test run on the 24th day of December in 1898. This friend to Louis’ father was so awed by how the small vehicle operated and how it went up the streets leading to his purchase of the vehicle. Louis was quite bright, as he was an aspiring youthful engineer, having designed and developed a few models before being joined by his brothers who were quite skillful in business after working in a textile firm that was owned by their father. When the company was starting, Fernand and Marcel took care of company management and Louis managed production and design.

The brothers saw the vehicles they had made achieve recognition after participating in a motor racing, making Renault instantly renowned. This was especially so after gaining their first victory in the first ever city-to-city racing competition which took place in Switzerland. This then resulted in increased production for this company and swift expansion. Marcel and Louis raced in the company’s vehicles but an unfortunate accident took the life of Marcel during a car accident in the race of Paris-Madrid of 1903. The same year saw Fernand retire due to health reasons and Louis was left to manage the Renault Company all by himself. The company’s reputation for vehicle innovation was nurtured quite early with the first sedan car being introduced in 1899. Back then the cars were a luxury and the smallest available Renault vehicle was a staggering 3000 francs.

In addition to the small cars, other Renault manufactured vehicles were buses, taxis, as well as cargo vehicles for commercial use before the First World War broke out. When this war started in 1914, Renault made the switch to creating ammunition vehicles, tanks like the ground-breaking Renault FT-17 and military airplanes. The creations of the military designs from Renault were very successful that Louis Renault was honored for his tact by Allies in the assistance to aid in their victory. When the war ended, Renault became the single French private manufacturer. When the 2nd World War broke out and France surrendered in 1940, Louis refused to make tanks for Nazi Germany which had control of his company and after France liberation in 1944; he was arrested and accused for collaborating with the German occupiers. Eventually, he died in prison even before making a defense. However, Louis Renault and his brothers are renowned for the great invention they made back in the late 80’s that is held as a mark of success up to now.

Bentley Continental GT Speed

The Bentley Continental GT is the worlds fastest, 4 seater car every part of the car is beautifully crafted. The Bentley Continental GT is one of the most desirable cars in the world today, appreciated for both the sumptuous luxury it provides and the levels of performance it can deliver. As such the tyres for this car have been specially designed to provide excellent comfort and stability when cruising and high levels of grip when enjoying the driving experience that the Bentley has to offer.

The Bentley Continental GT has been praised not just for style and luxury but also for its performance and road holding. The Kistler RoaDyn system was used measure real life loads on the suspension components and assemblies to allow minimum un-sprung mass to be combined with durability. The Bentley Continental GT 6.0 is immensely comfortable like driving in an Armani suit, and is rocket fast with breathtaking acceleration. It has quietly understated good looks, a real wolf in sheep's clothing!

The Bentley Continental GT Speed one of the the fastest Bentley cars ever produced for the road. The engine ratings on the standard Continental GT still remain, though. The laws of physics were drawn up to prevent things as massive as the 2009 Bentley Continental GT Speed from traveling so quickly. With 600 hp being dropped onto the pavement through all four tyres, this 5,200-pound Bentley manages to counteract gravity by accelerating with tremendous thrust. And still people try and improve it as does Bavarian exotic auto tuners Mansory, designers of the $2.5 million Vincero Bugatti Veyron, have unveiled their latest creation , a killer matte black Bentley Continental GT Speed. Mansory specializes in souped-up supercars, and the GT Speed is no exception with its 6.0L W12 boosted by 75 hp for a total of 685 hp plus an additional 111 lb-ft of torque allowing it to hit a new top speed of about 216 mph.

History of the Mercedes

We associate the name of Mercedes with wealth or car quality. What many of us don’t know is that the car itself dates back to over a hundred years.

To tell the story of Mercedes brand cars, you first must know the characters involved with the company. Those characters are Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz. Both men were born only 60 miles apart in southern Germany. Daimler was born March 17, 1834. A decade later, on November 25, Carl Benz was born. Although they grew up with little in common, machines from an early age fascinated both boys. Because their approach to building cars was quite different, it is doubtful, though, that they met or even knew what the other was doing.

In 1886, Carl Benz built a motorized tricycle. His first four-wheeler, the Victoria, was built in 1893. The first production car was the 1894 Benz Velo, which participated in the first recorded car race, the Paris-Rouen race. In 1895, Benz built his first truck.

In 1886, Gottlieb Daimler literally built a horseless carriage. Although we think of the car as being German, its history dates far back into America as well. In 1888 Daimler made a business deal with William Steinway (of piano fame) to produce Daimler's products in the US. From 1904 until a fire in 1907, Steinway produced Mercedes passenger cars, Daimler's light trucks, and his engines on Long Island.

Ironically, history says Daimler, generally considered to be the father of modern automobiles, never liked to drive. On March 6, 1990, Daimler died, leaving control of his company to his chief engineer Wilhelm Mayback. By November 22 of that year, Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschat had produced a special car for Emil Jellinek. Jellinek named the car after his ten-year-old daughter Mercedes. This car was lighter and smaller than the standard car of its day and because of this was able to reach a top speed of 55 miles per hour.

Up until 1908, Daimler had overshadowed Benz in racing endeavors. At the 1908 French Grand Prix, Benz took second and third place behind Lautenschlager driving a Mercedes.

At the beginning of the First World War, both factories were converted into production sites for war materials, although both resumed producing cars after the war. Social unrest and a falling economy characterized post-war Germany. Little or no fuel for cars and a 15% luxury tax made automobile production increasingly disastrous.

The German economy continued to worse and a new Benz automobile eventually cost 25 million marks. Although nearly 15 million cars were registered in the world in 1923, over 80% of them were registered in the US and over 1/2 were Fords. The Mercedes was too expensive.

In 1924, from sheer economic necessity, Benz and DMG signed an "Agreement of Mutual Interest." Although both companies retained their identities, the agreement was valid until the year 2000. The two companies merged with relative ease on June 28, 1926.

A new insignia was needed to represent the merger. The design was a three-pointed star wreathed with laurel. The word "Mercedes" was at the top and the word "Benz" was at the bottom. The merger did the new company well. Production of Mercedes-Benz rose to 7,918 Mercedes-Benz automobiles in 1927. The Mercedes-Benz diesel truck was put into production in 1927, also.

The first two automobiles to sport the Mercedes-Benz name were the Stuttgart and the Mannheim. Then in 1928 the Mercedes SS was introduced by Mercedes-Benz. This graceful body was made possible by a hood line that barely cleared the engine.

Mercedes-Benz launched their biggest and most prestigious car to date in 1930. The 770 Grosser was powered by an 8 cylinder, 7.6 liter engine. A car for the truly wealthy of the world, it was quite an automobile for showing off in a world economy still reeling from the Wall Street Crash of 1929.

The cars of the 1930s produced great racing success for Mercedes-Benz. The silver metal bodywork gave rise to the name Silver Arrows when the W25 racer (of Rudolph Caracciola fame) had the white paint removed to lower its weight.

W125 (200 mph top speed) won seven out of thirteen races in 1937 followed by the successful W154. In 1939 Mercedes-Benz built a small V8 races specifically to win the Tripoli GP. It did win!

The Mercedes-Benz 170V gave Mercedes the capability of surviving and then recovering from WW II.

Today the Mercedes of course is still being built and is still revered as a car of quality.

Improvements Made On The Aston Martin DB9

Aston Martin is one of the strongest makers in the auto market. They are well notable for creating cars that contain speed, performance, and luxury combined into one perfect bundle. They have made lots of models - but none is more popular to us than the DB9.

This is a supercar that has been produced with many of the good things in mind and no holes blocked. It is no wonder that everyone endeavors to get their hands on one of these beauties. For the 2009 model year Aston Martin out performed themselves and managed to develop a supercar that was much better then the year earlier - if that is feasible.

The 2009 DB9 is offered as a convertible and a 2+2 coupe. The convertible was dubbed the Volante - which is interpreted as ‘flying’ in Italian. This is a perfect name for something that is outfitted with a tremendous measure of power. The wheels practically lift themselves from the street when you start to test its limits. Leastways they feel that way.

Each model are given a 6.0 liter V12 engine that has the ability to push out 470 horsepower and 443 pound feet of torque. Fused with this engine is a six speed manual or a six speed automatic. Both of these transmissions are settled at the rear transaxle to provide better weight dispersion and are made with paddle shifters.

The only way that you can have the right supercar is if you are able to to settle on how to embellish it yourself. Aston Martin lets you to pick out the color combinations that will fit your style. You can find the soft top for the Volante in seven unique colors that include leather.

Every models come standard with xenon headlamps, 19” allow wheels, navigation system, a full leather trim interior, Bluetooth connectivity, iPod interface, satellite radio, and a premium audio system that will out perform itself each time.

The 2009 Aston Martin DB9 is one of the best supercars on the market that has the ability to cover all the bases. It is no wonder that it has a price tag of over $100,000. But with this kind of luxury and power it is worth every penny.

Racing Motorcycle - Fast And Friendly

In the competitive world of racing motorcycles, most companies tend to bank on their racing teams to promote their street bikes. Heavy duty motorcycles with obscene amounts of power inside the chassis run across the tracks, and motorcycle racing fans find that they can own a little piece of the excitement by buying themselves civilian versions of the racers that their favorite bikers are running.

More often than not, this marketing approach has led most motorcycle manufacturing companies to come up with barely street legal specs for their civilian bikes, and the results are machines that are grossly expensive, difficult to maintain, and wind up causing accidents in the hands of bikers who don't possess the necessary skill level to handle such high performance bikes.

Honda has taken a different approach from it's competitors in this department, and has instead taken a people-friendly focus in their motorcycles. Their teams still continue to run - and win a lot - in motor sports events, but their civilian bikes aren't simply powered-down versions of their racers. They customize their civilian bike designs with the average person in mind.

One of the things that shows this approach is the price of a Honda motorcycle. Their price ranges both for the bikes and parts are considerably more affordable for people who just might want to ride a fast bike for fun without the need to cleave along the highway like a bullet.

Their parts are also much easier to find than most of their competitors, especially their european counterparts, and likewise are much cheaper while maintaining a high standard of quality. To add to the customer oriented approach, these same parts are also easier to install, replace, and yes, modify for those who want to push the specs of their crotch rockets a little higher. Honda service center personnel are highly trained under rigid standards to ensure they do their jobs on the bikes right.

Lastly, Honda also offers comprehensive packages as an added bonus, like extended warranties, insurance, and prepaid maintenance plans for their customers to make sure that they get the best deal available for their money. For Honda, service doesn't end right after the sale is made.

So, while Honda racing bikes perform on a par with their competition on the professional race tracks, their civilian bikes are made for the people who just want to ride for fun without the headaches involved with owning something just one step below formula specs.

The Bugatti Veyron: The World's Ultimate Supercar

In 1998 Volkswagen decided to resurrect the famous Bugatti name, and announced that their first new car, called the Veyron, would be the fastest production road car ever with a top speed that would eclipse the mighty Mclaren F1. To achieve that aim took over seven years of testing and development, and resulted in a critically acclaimed car that would cost over one million dollars.

The Veyron is named after a French Bugatti racing driver from the 1930's who went on to win the 1939 Le Mans in a 57C Bugatti. However, whilst the name of the car was set firmly in the past, Bugatti would have to push the limits and boundaries of automotive technology to achieve their aims.

In order to reach its 253mph top speed the Veyron is powered by a 8.3 litre W16 engine, the W configuration is achieved by joining two separate V8's together at the crankshaft. The resulting engine has a quoted power output of 1001PS or 987bhp, although it is an open secret that the real output is more likely to be around 1035bhp.

To contain the 1250NM of torque that the engine produced, Bugatti turned to the specialised gearbox manufacturer Ricardo in Great Britain, who came up with a seven speed, twin clutch direct shift gearbox controlled by paddles behind the steering wheel. The seamless shift system allows the Veyron to reach sixty in just 2.4 seconds.

Having designed an engine and gearbox that could take them to their planned top speed Bugatti needed to make sure the Veyron had suitable brakes and tyres to cope with extraordinary forces it could produce. Michelin produced the run-flat road tyres capable of surviving the 253 mph top speed, whilst silicon carbide reinforced carbon brakes and a huge rear spoiler, which acts as an airbrake above 124 mph, ensured that the Veyron could reach a standstill from 249 mph in just 10 seconds.

Inside the Veyron it is easy to see why this supercar weighs over 1.8 tons. It contains all the refinement you would expect in a luxury saloon, including exquisite leather trim for the seats and surrounds and bespoke aluminium controls for the car lights and sound system. The owner also a receives a special top speed key, which retracts the rear spoiler, closes the front air vents and lowers the ride height to 6.5 cm in preparation for a high speed run.

Externally the Veyron looks very similar to the early concept car, however much of its shape and form has been driven by the need to achieve high speed stability and cooling. In fact the Veyron has an incredible 10 radiators, which provide cooling for everything from the engine and transmission through to the hydraulic fluid that is used to raise the rear spoiler.

In every way the Veyron sets new standards for the ultimate supercar, and in these tough economic times it may be quite a while until will see those performance figures bettered.

The Wonderful World of Motorcycles

Motorbikes are considered heartthrobs in the automotive world. Bikes are conventional and normal bikes are used by ordinary, middleclass people who can not afford to buy themselves a car. It would not be an over statement that 90 percent of people who step into their professional lives and start earning buy a motor bike as a means of transportation. They can take their feet off the ground and flutter away on their vehicles.

These motorcycles are economical in many ways. Some third world countries have stared producing their local scooters and bikes so that almost any person who manages to save a little amount of money can afford a scooter easily.

This goes for countries that are on their way towards development. Motor bikes are not hard to assemble and there are people who have managed to build their very own bikes.

It does not consume as much fuel as cars do and they can easily adjust themselves between cars in the parking lot!

It is hard to categorize bikes because now the ordinary Yamahas are beginning to come in the markets with the same features as those of trail or heavy bikes. Not exactly the same but a lot of features are being installed in all kinds of bikes. They are now more comfortable and smooth to ride on.

Bikes are of numerous types. An ATV drift has become dominant over the past few years. In ATV there is a raptor 700R GYTR edition it's key features are much more advanced. It is appealing for bike lovers as it has special graphics system, all new skid plates and more powerful engine that can make this bike race in all sorts of riding environments. It is capable of riding smoothly in deserts, dunes and even thick woods. It is basically a sports bike and it is used in bike racing and over the years it has earned the reputation of the best racer in the world.

Such bikes are expensive and belong to the sporting world. They used to be rather plain featured as we have seen the trail bikes that come with extra shocks and special wheels. The latest bikes have no comparison; they are a complete package. Their bodies are light weight; they have bigger, smoother, comfortable cushion seats. And their over all performance is much more satisfying than people could imagine. Motorbikes are a joy to ride.

Body kits and beyond

If you have just bought yourself a new car then you are poised to enjoy personalizing it. You can personalize it to reflect your choice of colors and your taste in style. You can also make it suitable for your comfort related preferences. Finally if you are a performance car buff there are many products you can add to boost its performance.

The first aftermarket products many people consider are body kits. You will find a wide range of body kits are available and you will surely be able to find one that you like.

Even with body kits you have a choice of a basic body kit with front and rear bumpers or more elaborate ones with side skirting, spoilers and other surfaces that can be added to the exterior of your car.

However if you want to enhance the looks of your car you don’t have to stop with body kits. You can add a hood scoop, window louvers, car mirror, new stylish headlights, great looking tail lights and a host of other products. Quite a few of these products will enhance the look and also improve the performance. For example projector headlights look great and they also make your night driving safe by really lighting up the road brightly.

For performance there are a whole range of products for you to consider. Such as cold air intakes, racing seats, engine pulleys, racing pedal pads, coilovers cat-back exhaust, lowering springs and many more. Some of these products improve the performance significantly and some give a small boost. However if you are into high performance driving every little bit counts and you should consider all products in depth to decide how best to spend your budget. You can find more information on car aftermarket products at www.ilovebodykits.com.

The internet is a good place to gather information on the various products that are available. You can read the details and see pictures. And when you are making the final decision to buy you can compare prices.

Your car is a lot like your home. Once you have the basics in place you can enjoy doing it up to match your style and improve your comfort.

BMW 650i Pros And Cons

The BMW 6 series was relaunched in 2004 with the BMW 645i. This car was a two door, four passenger luxury sports car. This car is ideal for a sports car enthusiast who would prefer a larger, more practical car compared to the 650's 2 passenger, lighter peers. In 2006, BMW upgraded the 645i to a 650i by increasing the engine a little. When including options and taxes, the 650i tends to run at about $80,000, so it's not exactly cheap. Here are the pros and cons of the car:

Pros

Amazing handling: The car is amazing to drive. When you drive the car, you feel as if you have total control over the vehicle. A car such as the Mercedes CLS (also priced near $80k) just cannot match this car's handling. The BMW 650i definitely has the handling one would expect from a German-made luxury sports car.

Gadgets: The BMW 650i comes with BMW's Idrive, an all-encompassing electronic system. The Idrive controls the navigation system, music, air conditioning, as well as communication system. The Idrive also has voice command, making it easy to use when driving. Some believe the Idrive is a bit difficult to operate. That's hogwash. Within two weeks of owning the car, anyone competent enough to use a computer or a DVD should be able to operate the Idrive flawlessly. The Idrive is the gadget-lover's ultimate car toy.

Interior: The interior of the 650i is beautiful. It has modern, classy feel to it. Your taller passengers will certainly appreciate being seated in the front though, as the back is not exactly spacious.

Acceleration: With a V8 and 360 hp, the car isn't exactly going to be outrun by a Civic. The acceleration and amazing breaks can also help you get out of accidents that other cars wouldn't be able to avoid.

Cons

Reliability: Expect to make stops at the service center every now and then. While it is a wonderful car, it is prone to electronic and tire issues.

Price: At about $80,000, it's not exactly in the everyman's budget. But if you are willing to spend this much money on a car, the 650i is definitely a good one to check out.

Subaru Impreza Versus the Mitsubishi Evo. Are They Starting to Show Their Age?

The first Mitsubishi Evo arrived in 1992 and the Subaru Impreza quickly followed it one year later. From that moment on, these two cars became arch rivals who would frequently lock horns both on the tough stages of the World Rally Championship, and in the pub bragging stakes as the debate raged over which was better, the Impreza or the Evo.

On paper both these cars seemed identical, both had 2 litre turbo charged engines, both had permanent four wheel drive and through the many variations that followed both grew increasingly more conspicuous wings, spoilers and flared wheel arches.

No matter which one of these Japanese road rockets you eventually favoured, the general consensus of opinion was that for a single lap of the race track the edgy Mitsubishi Evo was considerably more fun. However for the drive to and from the track you would stick with the more comfortable, but just as capable Subaru Impreza.

Sadly whilst both the Impreza and Evo were born to compete on the demanding gravel, tarmac and mud strewn roads of the word rally stage, both manufacturers have now withdrawn from the competition, and the kudos and respect that it once drew has been lost. After all, where else could you see your favourite car win a round of the world rally championship at the weekend, and then use the very same version for your Monday morning commute.

As their rallying glory days start to slip in to the past, Mitsubishi and Subaru have now released new versions of their fabled road cars in the shape of the Evo X, and the Subaru Sti. However, is the era of the four door supercar eater starting to pass? Especially now as the front wheel drive hot hatch seems to be making such a resurgence.

Whilst Mitsubishi has continued with the four door saloon theme, Subaru has bravely branched out and made the new Impreza a hatchback. Time will tell whether this has been a wise move, however from their powerful xenon headlight bulbs at the front to their high winged spoiler at the back, both cars still look ready to take on a rally stage, and more importantly both cars have the performance and handling to humble more exotic machinery.

Sadly the motoring press has not been too kind to either of these new versions, with many believing that previous generations of both the Evo and Impreza offered more involvement and driver enjoyment. This problem has been compounded by the new range of hot hatches from Ford, Vauxhall and Renault, which offer similar levels of performance for a lot less fuss.

The latest Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evo are still incredible cars, however they no longer have the field to themselves and as car manufactures seek to economise further on their production, we may start to see these niche models disappearing.

Automatic Cars are the Latest Trend of Indian Car Market

The Indian car industry always offers something new to the people. They come up with the innovative technologies and creative designs that will enhance the drivability. Car with automatic transmission are very common abroad but in India it is recently gaining its popularity. Many car manufacturers are launching either new variants or new models equipped with automatic gear box. Now a day’s car with automatic transmission is experiencing good sales. Automatic cars are very popular among women drivers. They feel it easy to drive and this is the very reason for automatic car sales go high. With the growing demand of such cars and targeting the women driver many car manufacturers are launching the automatic versions of their models.

In 2008, Hyundai had rolled out the automatic version of Santro on women’s day as a limited edition. This clearly reveals their target audience. Some of the models enabled with automatic transmission are Hyundai's i20, Chevrolet Captiva (AT version), Fiat's Linea, Honda City, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mahindra Scorpio, Mitsubishi Outlander and the lists just goes on and on. Unlike before, the car manufacturers are offering five to six speed automatic transmission systems which result in better fuel-efficiency clubbed with improved pick up and performance.

One of the most popular and hot-selling cars with automatic transmission premium hatchback car-i10, which is sells more than 1,600 automatic transmission variants per month. This is an impressive figure which is more than the company initial expectations. The company received an overpowering response from woman drivers and the growing jamming in city is pushing up demand. Other than i10, Verna from the sedan segment too offers an automatic transmission. The car manufacturer is also thinking of bringing a variant exclusively for the physically challenged.

The Indian car manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra also launched the automatic version of Scorpio in 2008. Scorpio AT sports a complete 6-speed automatic gearbox and the powerful 2.2 litre mHawk engine. M&M’s flagship model Scorpio gets the credit of being the first Indian car brand and also the first SUV to be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The trend of automatic cars is growing rapidly and every car manufacturer is trying to join the race. Honda, the Japanese car manufacturer already has variants with automatic transmissions like Civic, Accord, City, CR-V. As aforesaid it is one of the best features that a women driver looks for beside high-end features.

Another quick selling car with automatic transmission is Chevrolet Captiva. Normally Captiva has captured good sales in the Indian car market and now with the automatic versions the sales are gone still higher.

Finally the Ford Fiesta Hits US Shores

Last time the Fiesta was in the US was between 1978 and 1980, before it was replaced by the Escort. Not that long really for a car that has sold successfully in Europe for over thirty years. But things are about to change as Ford rolls out the Fiesta Movement and on the face of it, the response seems to be fairly positive. So does the Fiesta have the potential to become a truly global car?

The “Fiesta Movement” as Ford has branded the project, involves 100 drivers, selected from over 3,300 young drivers’, who will get a European built Fiesta to drive, for free, for six months. In return for the car the “agents” as Ford calls them, will be assigned monthly drives that take them to new places to meet new people and make video diaries of their experiences that will be posted on YouTube and other social media sites. This will hopefully create a buzz in the market demographic that Ford are targeting, so called “millennials” born between 1979 & 1985. A demographic that Ford says "Making up 28% of the driving age population, the potential size of the market serves as an opportunity for Ford to connect with a group that hasn't yet established brand loyalty and is very connected to the use of technology and social networking".

Alongside the 100 Fiesta’s earmarked for the Movement, Ford has also brought in a further 40 vehicles for use in marketing and to let journalists test drive. Feedback has so far been positive with many journalists seeming quite surprised at the build quality and the overall performance of the test cars. But why the surprise? The Fiesta is the second best selling car in Europe, it has made its mark where it counts, sales. Since the launch of the seventh generation Fiesta in August 2008, Ford has sold 118,000 units in Europe. Admittedly the North American Fiesta will be assembled in Mexico but it should still be similar to the test cars, cars with a proven track record.

The Fiesta’s being used for the US trial are all five door hatchbacks and at this moment in time it is unlikely that the three door variant will make its way over the pond, there is however a four door saloon being prepared for the 2010 launch. As of yet the exact specification of the US model has not yet been decided by Ford and it could well be influenced by the feedback that comes from their agents. Small changes will also have to be made to comply with American regulations. Engine types and sizes have also yet to be determined, but it would be nice if the clean diesel technology that is so popular in Europe could find its way into at least a couple of models.

So, with the Fiesta also enjoying success in China and Asia, a successful launch and sales pitch in America could make the Fiesta one of the first truly global cars. If this happened Ford could once again become the global player it once was.

Tips on Buying Your New Kawasaki Motorcycle

Kawasaki is among the biggest and most popular producers of motorcycles world wide. Because of its great quality and streamlined design, millions of motorcycle riders opt to buy Kawasaki. If you have decided to buy your own Kawasaki motorcycle, you might benefit reading on for some of these useful buying tips.

When buying a Kawasaki motorcycle you should carefully scrutinize the following:

1. Seat Height – you want to make sure that the seat height of your Kawasaki motorcycle is right for you. Obviously, shorter riders would need shorter motorcycles, and tall riders would need taller bikes. Be sure that the seat height is just right for you.

2. Balance – different motorcycle models in each make, including Kawasaki, differ in balance. You need to find a unit that has the appropriate gravitational center for you to balance it well. A good measure of right balance would be trying to balance the motorcycle with your feet flat on the floor and your hands away from the bars. Just do this with somebody around to make sure you don't tumble.

3. Motorcycle Weight – you should check if the Kawasaki motorcycle has just the right weight for you. You should be able to pick it up without help. It shouldn't be so heavy that you can't balance it while waiting for the traffic light to go green.

4. Motorcycle Features – While Kawasaki motorcycles have similar features, each model might be different from the other. You have to check everything from the size of the gas tank, the styling, the looks, engine size and so on. You want to make sure that the Kawasaki motorcycle model you get is one that suits your needs.

Now these are just the things you should look for the Kawasaki motorcycle itself. You should also be aware of the dealership. See if the dealership is concerned about you or if they just want to get your money as soon as possible. They should watch out for your safety and be able to suggest the right type of motorcycle for you to buy. You would also want the sales staff to be knowledgeable about riding. You can only trust one who at least knows how to ride a motorcycle.

Perhaps the best tip for you when buying your Kawasaki motorcycle is to try it out. Don't buy the bike without even sitting on it. Insist on testing it to make sure that it is the right motorcycle for you.

Kawasaki motorcycles are known to be among the best. But you need to be sure that you are indeed getting the best you need to check it out carefully.

What You Didn’T Know About The Hummer

General Motors’ contribution to the outsized SUV stable is the Hummer, a vehicle that has had a relatively short but equally contentious lifetime.

Based on the US Army’s Military High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle (MMWV or Hum-Vee), the Hummer is the layman’s answer to a tiny tank and its off-road capabilities are more than awe-inspiring.

The original version of this behemoth of automobiles was contracted by the US military and came resplendent with gun turrets and radar; additions that could arguably come in handy in particularly dodgy areas like the ‘Gang Capital of the Nation’, Los Angeles and the Bronx in New York City.

The military weren’t that convinced as to the efficacy of a vehicle in ‘full metal jacket’ and adapted it to be an even more brutish combatant - including a directional microwave crowd control beam!

However, the greater public only became aware of the Hummer when, in a publicity stunt, two of these veritable Goliaths travelled overland from London to Beijing, handling the rough and virtually impassable tracks of central Russia with ease.

But it was Operation Desert Storm in 1991 that really got car pundits breathing heavily and rushing off to their closest car dealer in an effort to claim one of these highway bullies for themselves.

In the late 90’s, GM acquired the brand from the AM General Corporation and, although the latter would still build the Hummer cars, it was up to General Motors to market and distribute the range world-wide.

Interestingly, the H3, a sporty variant of the original Hummer, has been manufactured in Port Elizabeth, South Africa’s answer to Detroit. Although many of the vehicles were destined for the international market, locals have been buying both new and used Hummer cars like proverbial ‘hot cakes’ - so much so that there is a two-month waiting list.

Although the ‘Testosterone Tribe’ may very well be enthralled by the beast, it has proven to be an ecological disaster with very poor fuel economy. So, boys, if the Hummer is your dream SUV, make for the Marines as its future will be decided on 31 March 2009…and it might not be a rosy one. The options are to sell the brand, re-design the entire production line or simply to discontinue this mercenary of motor vehicles.

Buying a Steering Wheel Cover

When it comes to automotive accessories that both dress up your car while helping to maintain it, steering wheel covers are often overlooked. However, there are many great reasons to think about getting a cover for your steering wheel. Not only can it add some personality to your vehicle, it can also prevent any damage from the natural wear and tear that occurs on the wheel over time. This type of thing may not seem all that important from a basic perspective, but if you value your car and want your investment to last, it is something that you should have.

Steering wheel covers come in a wide range of prices. You can go to your local Wal-Mart and get a basic one for as low as five dollars. Of course, that is not likely to be the highest quality you can possibly find but it is a start. Steering wheel covers sold on custom sites tend to be much higher in price, up to fifty dollars or possibly more. It really is a matter of choosing the level of steering wheel protection that you desire to have. Buying the cheapest or most expensive cover is not always going to be the best choice.

A steering wheel cover is perfect for adding a little splash of personality to your car. You can choose from a variety of different colors, designs or materials. You can even get some that have custom made designs or your favorite cartoon characters on it. There are many websites that offer steering wheel covers of all kinds. If you are the type of person that loves to dress up your car, a steering wheel cover is a low cost and fun way to do that.

The main reason to get a steering wheel cover is to protect your steering wheel. Many of them are made of leather which can become cracked over time. Also, many newer cars have features and controls right on the wheel. You want to keep them safe so that they will work as long as possible. Some of these control features are incredibly important to the way your car runs and operates. Taking care of them needs to be a priority and if a $25 cover can do that, it is worth it.

Always make sure to measure the size of your steering wheel before you make an order or buy one at the store. They often are quite tight to begin with and do not have a lot of room for stretching. If you get one that is too small, you will be stuck having to return it. Do not make the mistake of falling for claims that a cover fits all wheels. That cannot possibly be right.

Some steering wheel covers have strategically placed grip for your hands which can make driving much more comfortable. Some covers are even ergonomic which may be preferred by drivers that spend a lot of time in the car. A steering wheel cover is more than an accessory. It is a useful item that protects and looks great while doing it.

1965 Mustang Shelby Gt

With the introduction of the Ford Mustang in the middle of 1964 there was a nation wide sensation. This was of course due to the nature of the car design however the manner in which the media was handled and the marketing blitz that took place before, during, and after the official launch. A huge turnout in positive newspaper reviews, numbering the thousands, and an appearance as the Official Pace Car of the 1964 Indianapolis 500 coupled with an attractive purchase price of around $2,300 launched the Mustang into the American automotive limelight.

1965 was the first full official year of production of the Mustang. In addition to the primary Coupe design several variations on this model were available on the 1965 Mustang. For example Ford introduced a Fastback model for the Mustang that year to augment the existing hardtop coupe and the convertible. Two famous variations on the Mustang appeared in 1965 as well. The famed Shelby Mustang first appeared at this time. A Shelby Mustang in 1956 was a Fastback model with no rear seat. The spare tire was located in the back in the area of the rear window and the gas tank flap had the Mustang icon on it. They also added some more power to the 289 engine getting it up to a 306. The second variation was the 1965 Mustang GT introduced in the second quarter of that year and at a cost an additional $165! The GT option was available on the coupe, convertible or fastback models and came with a few variations of its own. As for the power train there was a choice between a 225 horsepower or a 271 horsepower V-8 engine.

Another choice to be made was between a three or four speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission called the Cruise-O-Matic. All GT packages came with an upgraded instrument group, striping on the lower part of the body sides. Finished out with "GT" badges on the front fenders, large fog lights mounted inside the front grill and a dual exhaust the 1965 Mustang GT really stood out! While the Shelby and GT packages got a lot of attention during 1965 the coupe body style was what really sold. The Ford Motor Company had first anticipated sales of the 1965 Mustang to be some where around the 100,000 and let's just say they sold a few more than that!

The Mustang was produced to compete in the emerging muscle car segment at the time. While it's the main competition the 1960's were such cars as General Motors Camaro and Chryslers Barracuda the Ford Mustang is the only muscle car from that era that has seen a continuous production run. While this early Mustang earned wide acclaim and several recognitions perhaps the most memorable is the Tiffany Medal. Tiffany & Co. presented a medal each year for excellence in American design and the 1965 Mustang was the very first automobile ever to win this award. This Mustang remains a true favorite in the eyes of casual fans and collectors alike. With the emergence of many Mustang oriented car clubs, the growing population of Car Auctions on television and an overall increasing interest in classic cars the 1965 Mustang is sure to remain an American icon for generations to come.

Motorbike Stunts

A wheelie on a motorized vehicle is not a new motorbike stunt. In drag racing, they are considered as a problem of robbing control that could be used to increase the speed of the vehicle faster, and many classes of drag racing use wheelie bars in order to stop them. However, those are the vehicles specifically built for drag racing, which rarely are street-legal, or customized from stock. In contrast, since at least the 1970s, some motorbikes straight from the outlet floor were able to be wheeled.

Between the late 1980s and ongoing today, motorcycles especially sport bikes, have become lighter and more powerful, and have therefore become easier to do motorbike stunt. Other motorbike stunts have also become possible due to the development of motorbike technology. Martin child wrote about bike, as the bike with lighter, shorter, and better-braked are on the market, the motorbike stunt has never been easy for so many. However, at the same time, the cost of a motorbike has remained comparatively low as compared to other street-legal vehicles with similar power-to-weight ratios.

Motorbike stunt riding is a rising sport in the United Kingdom and the United States. However, United States law prohibits "stunting" motorbike on public roads and it can even land you in jail quickly.

If you are buying a second-hand motorbike then you must check whether anyone has done stunt on this bike. Take a test for horizontal spots on the front tire, which shows you that the bike has done some wheelies. You must check for the scratches, which could have resulted from a crash. Motorbike stunt can trash engines, transmissions and the suspension, so be careful unless you intend to use your bikes in the same way, as a stunt bike.

Some motorbike riders form teams and make motorbike stunt into a marketable effort, such as the star boys. They sell branded merchandise of their stunts, produce shows and even offer schools on stunting. The star boys were produced in 1996 in Akron, Ohio, USA, and another business team, Las Vegas extremes formed in 1999.

Frame sliders - these big knobs are attached to a motorbike's frame to guard the fairing from damage when the rider laid downward the bike. Motorbike rider who do not do motorbike stunts also used frame sliders. It should not be considered as a substitute for a cage when learning how to stunt. Although frame sliders will cut the damage to the plastics and certain parts of the bike, they are not enough to keep from cracking motor gear and or cracking the frame itself.

Crash cages - these cages give more protection from break than frame sliders. There are many different designs and styles of cages in the market. It is mostly used by motorbike stunt riders. It is very important to check around, based on the type of bike you have, as what cage will work best at maximizing the protection for your specific motorbike. Sub cages are very similar to crash cages but for protection of a different sort. Front upper stay is meant to replace the upper stay on the motorbike.

One important thing that everyone should remember is not to perform any motorbike stunts without wearing a motorbike helmets. Motorbike helmets will protect you in case something goes wrong with your stunt.

Great Bikes need great Motorcycle Brakes

Motorcycles have huge numbers of fans worldwide, and many riders not only use their bikes for everyday tasks, their entire lifestyle revolves around living the bikers dream. Many long to share in this culture, and maybe this is because motorcycles are symbols of freedom. Freedom to explore whole states, surrounded by the elements, in touch with surroundings.

Whether riding down a long straight on the highway or negotiating bends on rural roads, having the best motorcycle brakes is vital. People need to travel from place to place regardless of weather conditions. Riding a motorcycle with the sun warming your back and a cool breeze round your face is certainly possible, but dependant on where you live, and the season, it may be a rarity! This is one reason why some have a car as well as a bike, when the weather starts to turn in the fall they gradually use the car more. This is a way to make enjoying motorcycles safer, and safety is a matter that needs to be paramount to all riders. Bikes are a passion, and whether your interest is in a custom or a standard model, using the best motorcycle brakes can keep you safer in all kinds of situation.

The idea of customizing motorbikes is by no means a modern one. After the Second World War many new bikes coming onto the market were considered bulky and unattractive. Bike enthusiasts purchasing these soon made amendments to them. Any unnecessary trim was removed to decrease weight and aid streamlining, alternative handlebars were added and other steps taken to give more aesthetically pleasing features. This process was widely referred to as ‘chopping’, which is the origin of the name ‘chopper’, which is a term still applied to bikes that look this way. Today, riders can have bikes custom built from scratch to their specifications. Performance and appearance is paramount to many, and some modify existing bikes to their individual tastes. With great acceleration, the ability to slow down is paramount; if you are going to spend on speed then also spend on motorcycle brakes. Some people are completely immersed in creating the motorbike of their dreams, but it is always worthwhile remembering that you need to keep yourself safe on the roads. Cars, trucks and big rigs try to be considerate to motorcyclists, but remember their visibility often isn’t great. You may well come into a situation where you have to rely on your own reactions, skills and motorcycle brakes.

The freedom of motorcycle riding is enjoyed by people from all walks of life, from business people at weekends, to those who tour the country or race professionally. Reasons why vary from person to person, but there are some words and phrases that crop up again and again. There seems to be a longing in some humans to be at one with surroundings, and riders feel that bikes cater for this need far better than cars. Not all motorbike riders are thrill seekers, although the exhilaration and adrenaline certainly play a par for some! Another benefit of biking is getting to meet likeminded people and make great friends. Just remember to buy the best motorcycle brakes and accessories you can and ride safely!

What It's Like to Ride a Harley

While automatic transmission can do wonders for a four-wheel drive, don't ever think that riding a motorcycle is just as easy. Getting from point A to B requires more than just firing up the engine and setting it to drive. When riding a motorcycle, you have to embrace the adventure that goes with maneuvering a two-wheel drive. Remember that a motorcycle actually weighs just a few more pounds than you, and in able to control it, you have to be "one with it." Any shift in movement and body weight would result in instant swerves and turns.

Perhaps for a lot of people, riding a motorcycle is most appealing because of its thrill, with wind blowing past your face and your feet mere inches from the ground. Add to that the benefits of fuel efficiency as well as speed and power that only a motorcycle can offer. For a real motorcycle rider, however, it's also about accepting all the risks that comes with balancing a two-wheel drive and taking on the responsibility for a safe journey.

Much has been said about motorcycle riders and what it takes to be a good one, but little do some people know that behind a good motorcycle rider is a high-performance vehicle such as a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Investing on a Harley

Harley Davidson motorcycles have been around for more than a hundred years. Apparently, what started out as a dream for creating the first ever motorized bicycle has become one of the most influential names in the world of two-wheel drives. Thanks to Arthur Davidson and William Harley, the world has come to know a motorcycle brand that etched its legacy based on engine performance, handling, speed and power, and its classic look. It also doesn't hurt that Harleys are seen in many films that involve fearless riders and crazy stunts. Another good reason for keeping a Harley Davidson motorcycle is that it is one of the only two motorcycle manufacturers in America to have survived the Great Depression.

Top reasons for investing on a Harley could also be one of these:

*Flying high with a classic ride

The name itself is recognized as a seal of quality and high performance. Though modern brands have lured many motorcycle riders to pick their own style and performance-driven two-wheel vehicles, you could say that Harleys are bound to stay. There are BMWs that are built for high performance for almost any road condition. The same may be true for Japanese brands such as Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Honda. But surely, owners of any Harley Davidson would say that nothing beats the original and the leader in motorcycle engine evolution for more than a hundred years. When you say Harley Davidson, what comes to mind is versatility, quality, and speed.

* Picking a Harley that suits your style

For any type of road condition, may it be a rough road or smooth pavement, on terrains or highways, you surely can find one that matches your riding style and capacity. Currently, there are CVOs (custom vehicle operations), Dynas, Softails, and VRSC models to choose from. Owners of Harley Davidson motorcycles would also have to say that it this brand is best for touring and roughing it out on the road.

Not just any motorcycle rider

Buying a Harley Davidson could spell a world of difference for the type of rider that your are. The model and make of your Harley Davidson could tell much about your preference for speed, comfort, style, and flexibility. The engine is also a prime consideration for many Harley Davidson motorcycle riders and owners. For such as classic ride, you surely have to know much about tuning, building, and maintenance to properly care for your Harley Davidson.

Whether for street or race riding, any motorcycle rider have to be mentally alert and physically prepared for what could be an intense ride. As they say, riding a motorcycle is 90% mental preparation. This means that much thought is given to every swerve and turn you take. Many Harley Davidson riders are also known for their classic sense of style that goes with their choice of jackets, helmets, and other original Harley Davidson accessories and merchandises to accentuate their riding style.

How To Size Yourself For A Motorbike Helmet

Have you ever had a motorbike helmet that did not fit? Doesn't it get annoying? Not only can it irritate you as you riding but it also can be very dangerous. It is very important to make sure when you are purchasing your new motorcycle helmet that you take the time to make sure you get the right size.

One of the best ways to size your head for your new helmet is to get a friend to help you measure. You will need one other thing, a cloth measuring tape. Have your friend hold the measuring tape around your forehead approximately one inch above your eyeline. But make sure that is the biggest part of your head if it is a little higher than an inch then move it up to where your head is the roundest. Now your friend shoulde wrap the cloth measuring tape around that point and find out how big your head is in inches/centimetres. Now take that measurement and proceed to the following information.

Motorbike helmets usually come in many many sizes. Xsmall, small, medium, large, xlarge these sizes are almost guaranteed to be available. Many places even have your xxsmall and xx large. If your measurement falls in between 52-53 cm then your size would be an extra small. If you fall in between 54-55 cm your size would be a small. If you fall in between 56-57 cm you would wear a medium. If you fall in between a 58-59 cm you would wear a large helmet. If you fall in between 60-67 cm you would wear an extra large. So just take your measurement and see what size you fall under. It is always a good idea to find a local store to try on some helmets and see how certain sizes fit!

Remember it is not only inconvenient to have a poorly sized helmet but it also can be dangerous!!

Choosing Car Audio

When it comes to automotive accessories, speakers are easily among the most popular. Though many drivers are perfectly satisfied with their factory speakers, the rest are seeking better ways to achieve bigger sound. The world of car audio is very large and if you are not familiar with it, it may appear to be confusing. There are a lot of options available when selecting the right car audio system for your car. Newcomers may want to do some careful research first because selecting the wrong system for your car or personal preference may result in a product that you have to return.

Start by getting acquainted with the various parts and components of a speaker system. Tweeters, subwoofers and amplifiers are the main components that you will find. Tweeters are great for perfecting the higher sounds while amps and subwoofers are designed to improve the quality of the bass. Not every car will need all of these parts just to have a nice sound. Larger vehicles may require more speakers than a small one. Determine what you need based on the size and shape of your car as well as your personal preference. Getting the right system may require professional assistance. Do not be afraid to ask for help.

Comparing prices and quality is very essential when purchasing any electronic equipment. Do not go for either the cheapest or the most expensive speakers right off the bat. That is not enough to make a decision to buy. You need to know how the product works, if it suits your needs and what others think of it. Look up brands and styles on consumer review websites to discover if others find it to be a worthy spend. People are brutally honest online because they have nothing to hide. It's a great way to get the inside scoop on various products.

Some people make the mistake of loading their vehicle up with speakers, thinking that more is better. However, that is rarely the case. Having too many speakers can actually dirty up your sound so that it is distorted and not at all what you want. Likewise, a misplaced subwoofer or amplifier will likely get you a noise complaint rather than impress the neighborhood. This is yet another great reason to seek out some advice from a professional in the audio industry. Clarity and quality has got to be the bottom line. For music of all types and even talk radio, the best speakers are the ones suited to your car.

The majority of people require basic speakers though there are speakers designed for competition purposes. This is a whole other category of car speakers. Choosing wisely is what makes the difference between good speakers and fantastic speakers. Check over all warranty and return information to ensure that you don't buy into something that you will be stuck with in the event it is damaged or deficient. Having the right car audio system can make all the difference in the quality sound of your favorite music.
